The name of this app caught my eye, because I can be a bit of an Etsy addict at times. If you don’t know about Etsy, well, where have you been for the last few years? Etsy is a site for selling and buying anything handmade, materials for creating, and vintage objects. It’s one of my favorite websites out there, and I use it as a buyer and as a seller. So far, there is no official Etsy app, but Etsy Addict works for most of the things you want to do when you’re on-the-go.
Etsy Addict opens to show you featured items, the very same items currently on the Etsy homepage, which is one of the best ways to find new and interesting products and sellers. You can also browse categories, and search using the same criteria you would on the website. If your favorite items and sellers are public, you can view them as well.
When you find an item you like, you can choose to email the listing, open it in webview (a browser right inside the app), or view it in Safari. From there you can login to your account to purchase the item on the Etsy site. Unfortunately, Etsy hasn’t yet let developers build an app that can access your user account, but hopefully that ability will be coming soon. Etsy Addict developer, Daniel Dickison, plans to add this to the app just as soon as it’s available. In the meantime, you can view the site from within the app, and make purchases, participate in your conversations, leave feedback, and take care of any necessary account maintenance. If you were desperate, you could probably even list an item for sale.
Etsy Addict is easy to navigate, and a great way to keep up with all your favorite sellers, or search for a last minute gift no matter where you are. It’s a great deal for just 99 cents, in the app store! Four jars of applesauce!
My thanks to Etsy Addict developer Daniel, for kindly supplying an app code for this review!
